Bass fishing can be better when the tide is going out, also known as the ebb tide As the tide recedes, water is pushed from shallow areas back to deeper channels and open water, ebb tides generally create stronger currents and the fishing tends to be more active with the stronger currents, prompting the fish to feed more aggressively. As the water level drops, those hiding spots disappear, pushing prey into open water where predatory fish are waiting. Bass are more likely to hunt actively during outgoing tides. Anglers often find success by positioning themselves along channels, points, and drop-off, where hungry fish are likely to gather.
During outgoing tides, prey is usually disoriented or struggling against the current, making it easier for the Bass to catch. Fish take advantage of this, striking more decisively and with less hesitation.
All fish will use the ebb to feed aggressively, which means they’re less cautious and more likely to go for your bait. especially Bass are naturally opportunistic, meaning they’ll seize any chance for an easy meal.
Try to Plan to hit the water as soon as the tide begins to ebb. There are many locations along the Menai Strait that are legendary for outgoing tide fishing.
