Lure fishing in north Wales for bass

With clear waters here especially as you move to the Llŷn Peninsula. When i was growing up in north Wales i was out in all weather fishing for bass with other like minded friends, we would always prefer to be out doors. Then it was much quieter along our coast line, you wouldn’t see anyone around. But it wasn’t always about the fishing its about being out doors near the sea there’s a lot more to it than that. Over the last few years bass fishing has really taken off especially lure fishing. You will find a place that just shouts bass, with clear clean water and with very settled conditions, can and often put the fish very close in shore. There are many areas along the north Wales coast that offer these kinds of marks. With a little bit of colour or current to the water and a bit more life to the sea often proves to be perfect lure fishing conditions. The bass species is a very capable of dealing with strong tide. Dusk or dawn is a prime time for the bass. These periods are important to the success for any angler. Bass will chase their prey right into the shallows, so don’t be afraid to fish very close to the shore.

There are plenty of marks here where bass will attack your lure. Checking out low water on big spring low tides will reveal many places to fish. Its always a good idea. Areas that have plenty of rocks, weeds, gullies and structures is a great place to target the bass. They and like other fish use the cover to attack their prey and will often work very close to the shore line. I’m talking about a true predator. ”The Bass”, and once hooked you will be amazed how hard they fight. There is nothing subtle about a bass on the attack. Many anglers are turned off with lure fishing for bass because they reckon it is too difficult to do, and just give up much to easily. Another reason is the cost of the actual lure especially plugs the ones you will see advertised online, or even sometimes by other anglers saying you must use this or that lure. Just because someone or an advertisement tells you it will catch you a bass, is not all ways true, keep it simple don’t go overboard always stay within your own budget. For first timers the emphasis should be getting out and spending time on the water rather that waiting to have all the right gear. It’s really very simple to catch bass if you follow the right logic.

It would be stupid of me to say that a lure will result in bass lining up to get caught. Let’s get that idea right out of your head that bass are easy to catch “There not”. But find them when they are on the feed and you will most definitely have one of the most enjoyable day’s lure fishing. When the bass are feeding they attack with unbelievable aggression. We are talking about a true predator gone ballistic once it’s hooked. The use of Polaroid sunglasses will also bring you an advantage. Working a lure means it’s not easy to see. keep noise and movement, especially shadows, down to a minimum.

I can guarantee that once you have hooked a big bass, the thrill and excitement of that experience will stay with you for a lifetime.

Llŷn Peninsula

The long finger of the llyn peninsula probes deep into the sea. The northern coast is mainly rocky and the bays are small. For excellent bass head to the storm beaches to the west. The rocks hold good sized pollack and wrasse. Big shoals of bass run along the reefs when sand eels and mackerel are around in late summer they patrol the rolling surf beaches
