Black Rocks

Black rocks llandudno

A good mark for shoaling bass, just under a mile from west shore. Tactics here to use- plugs and soft plastics, either side of the rocks 1 hour before high and the first hour of the ebb is just as effective as normal bait fishing with either ragworm or crab.

Deganwy estuary

Moving closer to Deganwy at the the estuary, also fished at low water is another great place for the bass with light tackle as the tide begins to flood into the the conwy river. But be very careful here as the tide races in.

  1. Fishing Black rocks on Monday evening an hour before high and an hour after. Had a rod out each side with rag worm for bait. Within 10 minutes I had a bass on the hook on the rod facing out towards the Orme, turned out to be about 33cm schoolie so photo taken and returned. 5 minutes later the same rod was hit again, this time a slightly bigger schoolie that was also returned safe and sound. Decided to try both rods on the same side as there had not been any interest on the rod cast out on the Conwy side but that turned out to be the only 2 fish caught.
Great venue for an awesome sunset and only a 10 minute walk from the nearest parking

Belan point

Car parking is to the right hand side of the beach near the end of the road just as you reach the bend. Then walk a one and half mile trek along the dune sand path. Fish between low and high, your better off fishing this venue with a small tide as the current runs hard.
Tope on fish baits some very nice flounders can be had with bass on lug crab and ragworm the best time is about 1 hour after high then fish it down the ebb.

Llŷn Peninsula

The long finger of the llyn peninsula probes deep into the sea. The northern coast is mainly rocky and the bays are small. For excellent bass head to the storm beaches to the west. The rocks hold good sized pollack and wrasse. Big shoals of bass run along the reefs when sand eels and mackerel are around in late summer they patrol the rolling surf beaches
